progress
made some progress in the last 2 days. in no particular order here it is.
got the carb cleaned up,got the springer apart and realized the welds on the front legs were cracked right at the weld. no biggie.took the backing plate off to check the shoes and drum. its a little glazed but nothing i cant resurface. actually look pretty damn nice inside.he stator plate with the cover off. looks like someone got in there and put some modern day wires in. im gonna go through and solder the connections so there not crimped.heres the frame bare and ready for sand blasting.and heres the bundle of parts waitin on there trip tp the snad blaster and chromer.The plan is to sand blast all the parts, then the springer and some misc nuts and bolts and the bars are off to chrome. The wife decided to go with a copper micro flake base with root beer brown clear over that. and some mustard'ish gold'ish simple striping. gonna repaint the motor and polish the cover. and searchin out a luggage rack for the rear and some new fenders. then its on to reassembly!

New toy for the wife! 1948 simplex servi cycle.
so here's the wifes new toy. picked it up for cheap from a guy here in town. figured out its a 48 motor in a 53 frame. theres 1 website with info and half of it is wrong and most the links dont work. manage'd to get ahold of some guy that has over 100 of these and he says theres 3 guys left in the U.S. that deals with them. he's one of them and one's 85 and on his death bed and the other one is a theif so he says and doesnt ship parts. good thing im only missing the kicker and the kicker pinion gear and the flywheel cover......which he wants 325 bucks for. soooo ill be fabbing something up to get her started. either way its all there and i started pullin her apart tonight to clean everything up. the carb was full of shit but everything else looks good.its gonna be fun as hell when its done.
